It is the duty of every living being to perform welfare activities for the benefit of others with his life, wealth, intelligence and wordsŚrīmad-Bhāgavatam Tenth canto Chapter 22 Text 35

“bhārata-bhūmite haila manuṣya-janma yāra janma sārthaka kari’ kara para-upakāra” – CC Ādi-līlā 9.41

“One who has taken his birth as a human being in the land of India [Bhārata-varṣa] should make his life successful and work for the benefit of all other people.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Ādi-līlā 9.41

Similarly, Sri Dharmavira Prabhu comments on CC Ādi 9.41 that

“This is the duty of everyone to make their life perfect and work for the benefit of others. Only become a preacher when you have perfected yourself”. Otherwise, it is considered to be cheating.

He also mentioned several times in his talks that purity is the force and without purity, one can’t preach effectively. Such preaching leads to fanaticism or sentimentalism.

So this injunction is received, as Caitanya Mahaprabhu says, that “First of all make your life perfect. Don’t try to preach without becoming yourself perfect.” The nonsense thing is going on in this world that so-called preachers, they have not perfected their life, but they have become preachers. They have not already perfected their life, and they have become preacher. Therefore they are bringing so many nonsense things and misleading persons.

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Ādi-līlā 7.80-95 Lecture, San Francisco, February 10, 1966

Thus whoever takes birth in the land of Bhārata-varṣa attains all the facilities of life. He may take advantage of all these facilities for both material and spiritual advancement and thus make his life successful. After attaining the goal of life, one may distribute his knowledge and experience all over the world for humanitarian purposes.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 4.25.13 Purport

Everyone born in India, especially as a human being, can achieve the supreme success through the Vedic literature and its practical application in life. When one is perfect, he can render a service for the self-realization of the entire human society. This is the best way to perform humanitarian work.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.16.68 Purport

The entire world is suffering for want of Krishna consciousness. Therefore Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu advised all human beings born in India to make their lives perfect by Krishna consciousness and then preach the gospel of Krishna consciousness all over the world so that others may become happy by executing the principles of Krishna consciousness.

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 7.7.53 Purport

“All Indians should seriously take up the cult of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and should perfect their lives by adopting the process of devotional service. After perfecting their lives, they should broadcast this message all over the world for the welfare of all human beings.”

Śrī Caitanya-caritāmṛta, Madhya-līlā 25.264 Purport

Caitanya Mahaprabhu has stated specifically, bharata-bhumite haila manusya janma yara [Cc. Adi 9.41]: anyone who has taken birth as a human being in the land of Bharata-varsa, janma sārthaka kari’ kara para-upakāra, just make your life successful and do welfare activities for others. So you must realize, because in India you have got this Krishna science or spiritual culture so nicely left by so many sages, so many saintly persons. You do make your life successful by following their path? Eh?

Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam 6.1.38 Lecture, Los Angeles, June 4, 1976

Such person, first of all let him realize his constitutional position. Because there are facilities. In India we have got this Vedic literature.

Lecture at the House of Mr. Mitra, Allahabad, Allahabad, January 30, 1971

He says that anyone who has taken his birth as a human being in India, Bharata-varsa, his business is that he must fulfill the mission of his life and then distribute it, para-upakara, by doing good work. That is Bharata-varsa’s mission.

Evening Lecture at Pandiya House Meeting with Community Leaders, Mombasa, September 16, 1971
and many more……

“Hence, our goal is janma sārthaka kari’ kara para-upakāra. Attain perfection first and then go for preaching under the guidance of a self realized spiritual master”
